These are the results on Pennzoil Platinum 5w30 from my supercharged 32valve 4.6 in my 2003 Mustang Cobra. The oil was in the car for over 1 year and only had 2500 miles on it, but they were hard miles for sure. Let me know what you experts think. I refilled with Ultra.

Oil really thinned out, and the flashpoint is borderline. I'd be curious to see how Ultra holds up.

Do you drag race, autocross, or road race the car?

I think results are pretty good. What weight does your car recommend? I though supercharged cobras take either 40 or 50 weight...

My opinion? I suspect the iron is either from the car running rich from cold starts and short trips and/or under boost.

If you have a forced induction car you kind of have to make a choice. A little extra cylinder wear from fuel or "boom".

I dont really see any oil issues but I dont think Ultra is going to hurt...

But then what do I know.

I do drag race and put it through it's paces on back roads. This is my first 2500 miles on the car so there were alot of friends getting that crazy first ride. But I don't see things easing up for this car in the future.

Ford recommends 5w20! I've read this was just for gas mileage reasons. The GT500's run 5w50 from the factory now. Should I switch to a different weight?

The tune on it is a little too rich. There were lots of cold starts and short trips. And I'm running about 13lbs of boost. Also the piston to wall clearences on these engines are super tight .001"

I think for now I would stick to 5w30. Report looks great overall in my opinion. PP and PU do show some thinning in *some* engines, but that does not seem to affect wear. What I've notices is that some engines have a tendency to thin oil, and some oils have a tendency to thin overtime. As long as wear is good it should not be a problem.

Am I to assume this is a stock Termi with a pulley?

Nothing out of the ordinary in the UOA numbers, other than the shearing.

I think this UOA looks pretty good. Blackstone is not worried about the oil viscosity.

To me the wear metals seem in line for a car that is driven hard.

I would say stick with the oil you are using...if you do try a heavier oil in the future I would definitely stay with a 5W oil. Oils with larger viscosity spreads...5W50 will typically shear easier than something like a 5W20.

The last piece of advice, and maybe you are already doing this, but make sure your oil is getting up to operating temperature before you start running the RPM's very high. I'd wait till the oil is at a min of 170 degree's. You can wait 5 minutes after the water temp gauge gets to normal. That will, most likely, get you into the safe range for the oil temp.

I says it's a pretty good oil analysis...

Thanks for sharing.

It wouldn't hurt your engine to try 5W40 or 0W40. It may slightly affect your quarter mile performance.

It's your first oil change on this car. With short intervals iron may be down next time you check it.

I don't think I see any evidence of fuel dilution. Beautiful

The oil sheared to a w20. You should have tried Valvoline Blend 5w-20 this time.

the report looks fine to me, 19ppm is not that high if you are running it hard. Might try Redline if you are looking to experiment.

If you go by Blackstone fuel, no it has no fuel. However, Flashpoint and viscosity tell a different story. I would bet money it has fuel and that is why it 'sheared'.
