This means that any oil blender who claims to use a base oil from the approved interchange chart, and buy an approved additive package, can put the API labels on their product. Each brand and grade of oil is not tested. There is very little auditing to see if every blender actually uses the correct ingredients correctly blended in their oils.

I'll stick with a top quality name, not a lowest price outfit.


Would not this same logic apply to the big name guys?

There are those here that have their oil tested but how do we make sure that all of the oils meet these same standards?

We dont really.There could be millions of bottles of oil that are not what they are supposed to be and people are unaware of it.

People ask why not just pay a little more. Ill tell ya why! I can still get my synthetic and a filter, a GOOD (like a pureone) filter, for less than PP. I can almost get my oil and filter instead of just Quaker State Ultimate Durability! Super Tech and an Super Tech filter is the ultimate value. The little you saved on oil can buy you a filter in most cases. I like to look at is as I can get my oil and filter and 12pk of Sam's Root Beer together for $0.75 less than PP. Or I can get PP, a lets say $6.00 filter and the soda and have paid $13 more for the same stuff!! SuperTech Forever!

My son's high school friend relies on me to change the oil in his old 240 volvo. He did not know you had to change it , his dad never taught him anything about car maintenance. Since the oil and filters come out of my pocket , his car gets supertech oil and filters. Works for me in this situation, where i don't want to spend and more than i have to for a car thats not mine. Its still better cared for than if left to them to maintain.

that filter is well built for 3-5k oci. That's what I've been using.

lol if that kid isnt paying for it then all he should get is ST. Since it is just an old volvo, ST all the way!

Some people foot the bill because they have a good heart. Maybe the kid is a hard luck story and just needs a little help. Heck, If my daughter had a friend with an old volvo that needed an oil change, I'd help her out. 4 quarts and a Super Tech filter, thats just shy over 10 bucks. Not a lot when your lending a helping hand.
Try getting a pizza for that much.

The kid needs a friend/ parent. Has a tough home life. Gives me a chance to try and counter his depression.
