hello, I'm new here and have been lurking for a couple of weeks. great site. I have a couple of questions.

Is supertech conventional or their high mileage formula available in 5w20? I know from browsing this site that supertech seems to be a good affordable oil. Is their high mileage formula comparable with other brands high mileage formula in terms of the additives? (seal conditioners) and what not.

thanks

Supertech is available in 5w20, and the formulation depends on where you are in the US.

It's a pretty decent oil.

thanks,

ive been running the Motorcraft 5w20. I was thinking of switching to Motorcraft higher mileage. but, i cant find it anywhere. I thought the supertech high mileage might be a good alternative quality/price.

Coming up on 75000. I dont know why i want to switch. cause the bottle says for engines with 75000 or more miles. I thought it may be a good preventative maintenance measure.

High mileage IMO isn't required unless the engine has a minor leak or is using oil. It's more marketing than anything else. The best maintenance for your engine is regular maintenance and regular oil changes...

I would do an Auto-RX Clean/Rinse on it and then just keep using a quality oil like Motorcraft.

bitog is as auto-rx cult site...i was thinking of buying it sometime, the ST hm, it is only 12.50

Ive noticed the auto-rx cult deal around here. It seems to be doing good things for the majority of users. supertech dino is $12 here, id imagine the high mileage formula would be a couple bucks more. Im paying $14 for the Motorcraft 5w20. I think ill just stick with that till/if i notice oil burning or small leaks.

thanks

Check their specs to be sure, but all the main brand name ones are SM certified, and they'll generally all say something about meeting or exceeding all engine protection requirements for GF-4. However, they usually don't have the GF-4 star burst symbol b/c they don't meet the fuel efficient requirements.

Or at least that's why I've been told that they say they meet or exceed the engine protection requirements for GF4 but don't get the star burst symbol
