Super-charged hemi in front of diesel engines

Any idea how this thing works? He gets the tractor rolling down the track with diesel power, then you see the super-charger open up on the hemi.

It is just linked in with the big diesels. For kicking in a few extra HP near the end of the run when everything is bogging down.

Slædehunden is the name of the tractor. ​

Pretty sure they've retired the tractor, at least there's nothing online about them since a few years back.

Personally, I think it is a power adder, once the spooled up diesel's get it rolling.
I suspect it was for show as well. Added noise and eye appeal.

Appears to be in Europe (Germany?).
I thought this was just a US redneck event, but apparently rednecks worldwide like showing off tractors.
