Sunrise FL

Hello and anyone near Sunrise FL? I am going there on work Monday morning, be there til Tuesday evening. All I know is the town is home to the Florida Panthers NHL hockey team.

advice, tips and advice appreciated

I used to live just North of there in Coral Springs.

You can do a bunch of stuff around the Sawgrass Mills Mall, Ft Lauderdale beach, A1A , Las Olas... etc.

I love going to the beach in the evening as it is nice and breazy and there are many places to have dinner.

Not a whole lot to do there, if I remember correctly. I used to live nearby. They have an IKEA and a big shopping mall (Sawgrass Mills), but I'm guessing you're not there to shop.

You need to drive down to either Miami or Ft. Lauderdale for some fun.

I used to live in Sunrise, on Pine Island Rd. It was a traffic infested, multi lane, cram city, residential area/industrial/commercial area all in one.

I could not wait to move out. I'm not sure what they were thinking when they came up with the layout. It's horrible.

Sunshine, FL is in Broward County. I do not know Sunrise, but it sounds.. unpleasant.

+1 on FL Fort Lauderdale, FL and Miami. I vote Lauderdale out of those two. Better than DFW, if you ask me

Just be careful if you decide to have some "fun" in the Miami area. There really is nothing there worth going to see for the risk involved. I love Miami and lived on NE 8th ave and 122nd st. (the nice side) for 13 years but stay the heck out if you are not familiar. Sunrise is nothing great but like Quattro and Cujet said, Sawgrass Mills is nearby and is one of the biggest malls in the US. Hollywood beach is the place to go if you like the beach.

Sunrise in the Sawgrass Mills - Panther arena area is very nice....
its the Sunrise Blvd near the 'Swap Shop' flea market is were you need to avoid, unless you have a Glock.

I would head to the beach for some fun and walk around.

Once you get off I-95,869,836,826,395 195 112 or Fla Turnpike it is a nightmare whether it be Sunrise Blvd or any other major roadway in Broward or Miami-Dade..Much worse when the snowbirds are here like now.

The very ill timed traffic lights do not help as you will get just about every one red plus the are very long due to left turn arrows at almost every intersection..The left turn arrow does not stay on long enough at most intersections to let everyone go so you end up sitting another 4 minutes till it comes on again..It can take 25 minutes to go 7 miles most of the time..Miami Beach is constant gridlock once you get off the 395 or the 195..The 395 and the 195 can be a nightmare to cross as well..A few weeks ago a Organcycle crashed on the 395 and got killed and it took me 3 hours to get across the 7 mile Causeway.

I have seen A LOT of cars down here die of Heat Stroke.

I got lost in the Pork N Beans area [Liberty City] the other night..I did not think I was going to get out alive.

South Beach [Lincoln Road] is very nice..Nice places to eat and an awesome place to walk around..Most of the other areas in the Miami Beach area has taken a dump.

OMG, we stayed at South Beach once and it was frighteningly expensive. And the traffic was simply unbearable.

I grew up in Hialeah, but it was very different back then.
