is 5,000 miles 7,500 km too long for my driving conditions?

I drive 2 miles each way, 4 times a day, from "cold".

at least once a month I may do a 30 - 100 mile run.

temps are always above 0 deg C / 32 F, but mostly above 15 deg C.

I am concerned about the short trips, but a critical assessment of my service manual says "repeated short trips in FREEZING conditions" (my caps).

so technically I am not on severe schedule?

I am planning on using dino 10w30 SM/GF-4 from now on plus pureone PL14477 filters.

Your camry?

I would do 5000miles OCI if I were you.

Currently, with my wifey's 04 camry 2.4L, I'm doing 8000kms OCI on dino mix (eiterh MC 5W30 semi-syn or 50% PP5W30 mixed with whatever I have left in my stock RE: ILSAC GF-4 10W30 (Castrol GTX, Formula Shell, Q-state green, etc.)

This is for a car that typically covers 500kms per week in mixed driving conditions (25% hiway, others city incl. short distance).

Q.

With a synthetic oil: Your great!!

With a Dino oil: I would use a Synthetic

yes there is the 6 month stipulation. I get to the mileage first though (somehow - sometimes those montly runs can be longer). I do about 18,000 km a year

We too have the 6 month stipulation with the warranty on both of our vehicles and although we don't drive all that much we have the oil and filter changed by the dealer.

I'd go with a synthetic oil, and stick to 6 month OCI's or xxxx miles (mentioned in the OM) which ever comes first.
