The exterior trailer door skin is missing on this newly purchased trailer. I have found material that will work, but only in white?

Any suggestions on where to buy a small piece of exterior trailer skin in black? Or any other material that may work to seal off the exterior of this door?

Thanks...

So you paid a little more, did ya?
A little over $2800 with auction fees. No title with the trailer I purchased. Seller was GEICO, and GEICO named as Seller on Bill of Sale so i have no worries. Going to take about $1k in parts to get the trailer I purchased up to snuff.

Try a local race car shop. They have sheets of different colored thin aluminum to make bodies out of. Could probably even shear it to the correct size.

⤴️This is what I was going to mention. If you know any roundy racers ask them you might be surprised how many of those guys have what you need and black is a very common race car color.

GON any racecar shops near by that make aluminum body panels for race cars? They have a ton of aluminum in various shades. If you found a local racer they probably even have a scrap piece. In SC I gotta believe you'd find at least one...

Other thoughts are a gutter company, they buy aluminum in rolls usually, or an RV dealer.

Hopefully one of these solutions will help!

Just my $0.02

Thanks for the tips Gents! I will search for a local race shop.

For reference, here is a closer up picture of the door needing the skin.

Keep in mind GON does things right, no spray painting whatever that is or using lauan or other cheapo fixes. What about calling the Mfg and getting an exact replacement piece? Will the door come apart? (My earlier thought that it was fiberglass is incorrect.)

AZJ,

Yes the door comes apart, fairly easy. Hidden screws on the sire of the door making placement of the new skin look fairly easy, as long as I can cut a straight line, and cut the opening for the door handle without going to big.

Was unable to find a racershop near by. I did find this plastic from Hinson Motorsports. I really like the material, but I think it will be too thick. This material is .070 of an inch, I suspect the aluminum is significantly thinner. I am going to give it a try, worse case I have a template for the aluminum.

I used an aluminum ramp from harbor freight as the straight edge. The plastic shipped rolled, so using the oil to try and flatten out the memory curves in the plastic.
