Suggestions for small (through a gate) riding mower

If you can get your hands on a nicely restored or good original 1960’s-1974 John Deere 110 or its replacement, the 200 series 210/212/214, etc., built through 1986, those are good tractors powered by Kohler engines. My 110 had a 38” deck. While I was getting carburetor work done on the 110, I bought a used beat-up Snapper pull-start rear-engine 30” mower for $140. It ran rough due to carb issues and only the fastest gear was useful, but it was “good enough” as a temporary replacement. I sold it for $200.

My Cub Cadet LT42 is 3 years old - what issues are expected as it ages … ?
This year, the only motor offered in the basic riders is a Chinese (or MX I don't know) Intellipower that's given people trouble. John Deere still offers B&S but I think MTD has mostly gone to this motor. Pretty sure Craftsman still offers a B&S 17.5 hp motor and the camshaft has been redesigned as it has a different part number (ask me how I know LOL).

I know the 42 has in house - but I have seen Kohler on the 46 where I live

Yes, you're right. I think the biggest the OP can do is a 42" because my standard gate will barely fit mine through it. I have to remove the bagger chute (not the bags themselves on the back of the mower) and hold the discharge guard up to get it through. I don't think a 46" will work for him but I may be wrong.

Hated to see them go Chonda - regardless of the yada yada here - love my CC and the Kohler 5400 series …
