Suggestions for Oil for my LT1

Howdy. I'm new around these parts. One of my friends from the Impalassforum.com showed me this forum awhile ago, and I finally just got around to joining.

So anywho, I'm interested in hearing what some of you say is a good synthetic oil to use in my 150K LT1 in my 95 Buick Roadmaster. The previous owner had the oil changed every 2500-3000 miles, and when I got it I was running regular valvoline 10w30, and after awhile switched to the 10w30 durablend forumla. Was changing the oil every 3000-3500 miles w/ the durablend.

I got the car out in May and just recently finished up my 2nd phase of auto-rx so I'm looking to see what you guys think. I've been told the Mobil 1 0w40 is a good choice for my car. I'm a very spirited driver, and I do at times drive my car like I stole it. It has all the typical bolt on goodies, and it sees the drag strip often. I'm not too concerned w/ trying to get 12k between oil changes, just wanting a good synthetic for it. (maybe 6,000-7k oil changes)

I too ran 10w30 durablend in my LT1 Caprice, never had any problem. I know a lot of people run the Mobil 1, but I stuck with the Durablend cause it was easier to find where I lived at the time. Either one should be a good choice. After I sold the car my friend was running Semi Syn Motorcraft or Trop Artic 10w30, he averaged better gas mileage with the two.

Castrol 0w30 (made in Germany) aka GC.

This oil has shown great results in LS1 and LT1 engines. Don't know if your Autozones stock it.

GC would be my #1 choice.

Mobil 1 0w-40 or truck & SUV 5w-40 would be good options.

I wouldnt discount pennzoil 10w30 with lube control either, though it isnt syn.

Prolly all dirty oil filters look like this, but this is what the filter element looked like from the 2nd treatment of Auto-rx. It was a AC Delco Ultragaurd Gold PF52 Filter. I was going to take the filtering element off but I couldn't figure out how to.

My LT1 really likes Delo 400 15W40 (not synthetic)

If you have to have synthetic I'd go with Rotella T synthetic 5W40. It is a group III synthetic that holds up well and the price is right (about $13 give or take for a gallon at Walmart).

Hhaah my local autozone can't tell the difference between antisieze and dielectric grease let alone carry the German Made Castrol. The 0w40 is a hard find too. Advance in town was the only place within 30minutes that I could find it at.
