good afternoon! due to your fine help, i changed my oil (and got analysis each time), trans, steer, brake fluid, got my son a great Subaru, and will buy snow tires!! I also now detail my own cars. great help here!!

Please suggest a vehicle for me. i have an open mind, willing to listen to ALL ideas and all car companies.

Goal:
maybe $35,000 more or less. more or less.
car can be new, or certified used.
4 door sedan and roomy, with some power. luxury category.
possible all wheel drive. appeals to me, never had it.
would like something reasonably dependable, i work full time.

Comments:
I think I do not like SUV's, as BMW x3 or x5.
Although a super car, the Accord sedan is just a bit small for me. a great value
would consider Cadillac CTS all wheel drive
Acura RL all wheel drive
Acura TL all wheel drive. a bit small? never tried it.
BMW or Mercedes all wheel drive, would need to be used.

I would like your candid opinions, and will consider ALL ideas! i have access to two GREAT mechanics. BMW dealer close, Acura and cadillac dealer close. Mercedes dealer not close.

THANK YOU!!

best

Bob

In that category I'd be thinking something like a G35X AWD.
Good size car, reliable, lots of power, and AWD.

I love G35 sedans, especially with the upgraded wheels and aero package. So pretty.

just checked the web site. G 25 has 218 horsepower.
G37 has 328!! much better! G37X seems to be around $38,000, in the ballpark!! thanks SLCraig! did you ever own one? did a friend? are they dependable?

thanks

bob

If the accord is a bit small, youre going to have issues with anything else. The accord is an EPA "Large car". Audi A8 might be your only option.

As others have said, the infinity g37x or cts, or also check out volvo s60 t6 awd, or lexus IS 350 series. There are lower versions with lower horsepower for these as well.

more roomy than a new accord (EPA large car)? Or did I misread and the ccord mentioned is old?

Hadn't thought about that, good choice there. Or even take a look at a new Lacrosse or Regal.

The Acura TL seems larger to me than an Accord, and will check most of your boxes. My mother-in-law has had two now, and currently has a 2010 model. No issues with either. The 3.5L V-6 is a honey of an engine.

The Infinity G37 is smaller than the Accord. The CTS is smaller than the Accord.

Sedans larger than Accord:

BMW 740 Li
Cadillac DTS

Pretty much everything else in a sedan is the same size as the Accord or smaller.

I drive an older AWD Jaguar X-Type, with a manual transmission. I really like the driving dynamics. While I would not recommend a X-Type, I do understand how well a sedan works with full time AWD.

I don't drive slowly (to put it mildly), I push my vehicles to the limit when I can. The AWD is so much better than traction control in wet conditions. I can use full throttle at a slippery intersection and all I ever get is traction.

Same goes for drive out of a corner. Never any wheelspin. I love it! To put it another way, it (nearly completely) removes one aspect of slip at the limit. Allowing me to concentrate on more important tasks, thereby making me a better driver (ha ha).

The BMW versions have been troublesome.

We have an M35X (wife's winter car), it not that large inside and is one of the most problematic and expensive cars to repair i ever owned.
It will be going down the road real soon.
Replacement is undecided but I'm liking the VW CC loaded as one option.

I second that. I love mine - it's got it all - luxury, speed, power, and toys. I've got just a hair under 30k on it and it's been extremely reliable. Oil changes and a few tiny things here and there, but since I have an early production 2010 model that is to be expected since it was an all new engine, transmission, and exterior. Would definitely recommend it.

The Infiniti G's are great cars as well. Had one prior to the SHO. However they can be tight if you're tall or a bigger guy. It's a narrower car. But they go and handle awesome.
