Subway calls ‘emergency’ meeting with franchisees as sales plummet

I go to Subway a couple times a month, I like their new menu but it is staggeringly expensive. Even with a few bucks off through the app most footlongs are about $13-$16 depending on what you get. Add another $4 if you get a meal.

The quality of food items has dropped far over the years. Slimy meat, mediocre bread, etc., has brought Subway down to almost McD levels.
I think McDonald’s is far better. The food tastes better, and is prepared better.

I used to eat at Subway a couple times a week. It was on base, and I even knew the managers name because I was there so often and at that time, at that franchise, it was pretty good.

The last several times have been to a subway have been a colossal disappointment. Overpriced, poor taste, lack of freshness. On the toppings, stale bread. Ugh.

Won’t go back.

Steak 'n Shack has a really low buy in also = Last time I saw an offer on the wall in the restaurant was a $10K in.
About 30 years ago, my brother and I were brainstorming about the future. I had just been laid off from my airline job. We made a couple of calls to inquire about a Steak n Shake franchise. I don't recall the buy in amount, but you also had to have proof of $500k of liquid assets. That dealed us out of the game. I wonder if that's still the policy.

I just know no matter what that is a bottom starting number no matter what for any food franchise

Wife I explored some options

My takeaway is the few successful good food places have my full admiration. Again you still might not be making money!

Togo's used to be the go-to, but they've been going downhill for years. At least the ones around my area.

I no longer go to subway because of this:

If I want a sandwich, it's either Mr. Pickles (when they're open), or I'll drive 30 miles to Erik's Deli.

I ate Subway recently and it was good.

I can understand why franchises hate coupons like the 3 foot longs for $18.

ever try cousins?,,last time was long ago ,thought it was good, the bread was better than subway.

I've been to cousin's once in Milwaukee; recommended by a coworker for lunch as we don't have any in IL. It wasn't too bad, reminded me of Jimmy John's.
