The article says private equity just paid $9B for subway. Couldn't happen to nicer guys. LOL.
Interestingly the private equity firm owns a ton of restaurants, including Jimmy Johns and Schlotsky's deli.
They also own some car stuff -Maaco paint, Meineke, 1-800 radiator.

The food quality is garbage for the cost.
It's not any better (possibly worse) than 25 years ago.
The problem is I can get a decent or good sub at almost any gas station, many of which DO fresh slice their meat now.
I can usually get an excellent sub at one of the many small delis.
I will pay more for better quality food. Cost (within reason) is not a factor in my lunch / sandwich choices.

I'd rather starve than eat Subway.

My PT guy (great physio BTW IN Everson, WA) is RIGHT NEXT DOOR to a Subway. The smell would knock a buzzard off a parked honeywagon at 1000 yards. They are piping it in, I swear. I told the guy I need some fresh air STAT!

Subway is awful - terrible overpriced sandwiches. I predict eventually most of them will go under, they have so much competition now from places that actually know how to make a decent sandwich. Subways are almost always manned by people that hate their job too, which is very telling.
Good riddance to them and their cardboard flavored food.

I like Subway but it’s too expensive. We have one about 30 minutes from our house that’s in a Pilot Truck Stop near where my dad parks his truck at so we go there and pay with his points. In my opinion Subway is so much better than Jimmy John’s, Firehouse and Jersey Mikes I can’t stand any of those places because they don’t toast the bread.
All the franchisees were complaining when they were forced to buy the toaster oven! Subway has long had a problem with their franchise owners.

Sounds about right lol. My dad wanted to open a Subway franchise once. He was so close to buying the property and then he found out what the franchise cost and the whole thing was off lol.
Probably the best decision of his life!
