Strange phone numbers

Every once in a while I get phone calls from Colorado or wherever that are ligitimate phone numbers but are telemarketers. I just don't answer and of course they never leave a message nor do I call them back.

Today I got a call three times in a row from 114422965815 - that's how the phone shows it - no hyphens or () - couldn't find any country codes to match. On the third call I hit ignore and they quit calling which leads me to believe they are just phising for working phone numbers to sell to others.

Anyone seen anything like this?
 
I used to pick up and talk to them with an Indian accent.. One week, it was the same people, but 3 different numbers from 3 different states.

I finally asked for a supervisor and said no call phone no more in a mean Russian accent and I haven't heard anything since.

From what I understand, calling the number back is what docks you on your phone bill. Usually they'll leave a partial message or one about the IRS so you call them back.. and bam. $30 charged on your phone bill.

I have had found you can Google the number sometimes. I had one say it this was a final legal notice of court action(right...) Googled the number it was all about the scam these folks were running.
 
The woman who had my phone number before had some credit issues and I think was clueless about giving her number out. One of her friends also texts her on her birthday for a couple years too. I do get the odd call from a Russian country code as well... I haven't answered one of those yet.
 
Mine is always a recording of Rachael from cardholder services....she sounds hot

That I am not sure of, but I have read on the web that they can dock your phone bill for carriers such as AT&T or Sprint. They use those techniques so they can get that returned call.

I get call from her too, lol,
I actually pressed 2 for an agent,
then I was actually sad as to some call center 90 plus year old milking cow (probably no offense milking cows).
She hung up on me....when I mentioned the FTC.

Maybe they do not call prepaid. I have never had a postpaid cellphone and have never received such calls.

I like to pick up and once they tell me what [censored] they are selling I like to scream I won!! Hey baby I won! We gonna be rich!! I won!!

For sure. I sometimes even see numbers like 11111, 123456, 8888888888, and so forth.

Out of the last 75 calls to our landline, about five of them were legitimate. Disgusting.

The best ones I've gotten are calls from my own number! I Suppose I should just go ahead and block it.
 
Telemarketing phone systems call from many different phone numbers and it'll say they are in some state but they aren't in that state. My brother was a telemarketer for a short while. If he called my phone (for example) 5 times in a row it would be a different phone number each time from a different state.
 
A few years back I was going to get rid of our landline but it was still being used by some miscellaneous people like the vet, doctor, etc. I ended up porting the number to Google Voice and I bought an Obihai device to interface with the phones. It works well and one of the best things is Google's spam filtering of numbers. Every once in a while I log into my GV account and I'm amazed at how many calls have been routed to lala land by Google Voice. You can then go in and "block" the numbers so they get a not in service tone/recording the next time they call. This helps to cut down on repeats.
