This was a new one to me. Went to take my old IHC pickup to town. I started it and it died a few seconds later. Figured that the gas in the carb had evaporated so I cranked on it.

Rrrrrrrrrrrrr, Rrrrrrrrrrrr nothin. Pour gas down the carb and it would run then die. Filled up the carb through the vent tube and it would run a minute or so then die.

Pulled the line off and blew air into the tank. It was open and I could hear the gas bubbling in the tank. Put the hose back on the fuel pump.

Shot a little bit of air into the tank at the gas cap to prime the pump and carb.Left the gas cap off so it didn't have any pressure left over. Started it up. Pulled the gas line off at the carb and it was pumping gas. I put my finger over the hose and I couldn't hold back the gas. It was spraying around my thumb pretty good so I ASSUMED that it had adequate fuel pressure.

Put the line back on the carb and it died. Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr, Rrrrrrrrrrrrrr.........Still wont start. Pour gas into the carb and it ran a few seconds.

Went and got my vacuum /fuel pressure guage. Shows 6 psi of pressure. Plenty for my carbureator.

Pressurized the tank, pump and carb again. Truck runs, pull off fuel line and it's pumping air now. 6 psi of air.

Went to Napa and bought a new pump. It ran for 45 minutes now. So it would build air pressure but not fuel pressure unless it was primed? Once it pumped out the gas it wouldn't suck more gas but built up air pressure? Odd

That is a wierd one. Does it have a return line or anything like a vapor canister plumbed in?

It's a simple plug past where you checked. A filter may be internal, in addition to the other one.

But, a float needle and seat are the most likely.
When sitting for a while, they can stick open or closed.
So yanking the float bowl cover and cleaning things up is wise.
use care with small parts.
