For the last few days, I've felt like I'm getting a cold. Slight sore throat, muscle aches and cramping, and "brain fog". This morning, I feel kind of feverish, but my temp is about 97.7 F. I tend to run a little cool anyway, so that's pretty normal. My pulse is strong, at about 76 right at the moment.

So I have most of the cold symptoms, except for the respiratory stuff. I have a little phlegm, but not much.

Any ideas? Is this just a type of cold I haven't had before, or something else?

Probably just a viral infection (cold or some variant of flu). I had similar symptoms, but with chills/fever and a cough, two weeks ago. I missed two days of work, first time I've taken off work for an illness in over 10 years. The worst of it lasted about three days, but it slowly resolved itself with the exception of the cough, which I still have.

Hope you are better soon.

CDC says your good to travel.....heck, ur even cleared to hop a cruise ship to Belize! Oh, wait, they won't let you in!

Prob a viral infection like was said. Rest up!

I had the same symptoms about 3 weeks ago as the OP and at the same time my GOD daughter whom we care for 3 or 4 days a week was diagnosed with EV-D68. That little infection put my GOD daughter to bed for a 2 days. Not a small task because she really is the most headstrong person I know. The good news our kids whom are close to her have not became ill nor her little sister. Viruses and human biology are strange bedfellows to say the least.

Also I will add the respiratory symptoms I can not shake and my 5x a week cardo training has been reduced to a daily 2 mile dog walk. At least Pete the Pup is happy.

I hate getting older. Seems like it's now a yearly thing for me to get a good cold that needs bedrest to get over. And even then it lingers. Forever.

Man, that sounds like Chickenpox. Hope you had them as a kid. I was 32 when I got them. Very nasty symptoms when older.
