Strange Amsoil story, need help

Oh man, you are NOT going to believe my week so far, and it's only wednesday.

First, on monday, I get the news from Amsoil that we've been discussing here. A minor quibble compared to the next two things that happened.

Also on monday, a TREE falls on my CAR, bending the b-pillar and effectively totaling my car.

Then today, wednesday, A KID IN A PICKUP RUNS INTO ME ON MY MOTORCYCLE!!! My poor bike also probably totaled.

I been very busy this afternoon, but I got a call from Amsoil a couple hours ago - pardon the random bullets (in no particular order):

1) They don't believe for a second that you are lying or scamming. The people I spoke with remember speaking with you, and how polite you were given the circumstance. The only comment they had, was a few times it was hard to get a hold of you (who isn't like that?) so that's the reason for the letter.

2) This is being investigated to this day. The Production Manager, lab people, management, warehouse folks, tech services are all involved. They have not let it go….they just have hit so many dead ends. But they still consider it under research.

3) They still have full pails of this lot in stock. The product is all normal. It matches the lot records, and it matches the lot retain. They have pulled some other material and it is fine as well.

4) There have been no other complaints anywhere.

5) It's weird that the tech did not send you a sample container and a returns form. This typically costs nothing to the customer.

6) I also asked about why the 15° C difference in the pour point didn't send bells a whistles off - two basic reasons 1) The test is simply not that accurate and 2) You had told them you were pouring at 5°F or so, and the pour points are still lower……

7) I asked why they didn't insist on getting the bucket back for further investigation while their was some good fluid still in it. The reasoning was as stated, they figured the sample was representative. (That would have been the smoking gun!)

8) They are being reasonable and have not ruled out customer good will even if they simply cannot figure this mystery out.

I gotta run, I took notes, but something else might pop in my head.

EDIT - holy whack I just saw your last post!! Good luck on you. I'll pray for you.

Sorry to hear like they say things happen by 3's

With all being said and playing out I think I would be making a little more noise...No need to take a sit back and wait and hope for the best.

Good luck.

Wow Pablo, thanks for your hard work on all this! When I last spoke to Chris on Monday it sounded final, like they were done with any active investigation. That's why I immediately came to the forums.

Thanks for the prayers too. I thank the man upstairs that I wasn't injured. The kid had a mean brushguard on the front that hit my bike about 6 inches behind my leg. If it had hit my leg, not only would it have broken my leg, it would have pulled me right off the bike.

I work for a well known Ammunition manufacturing company that is ISO 9001:2000 certified. Even with tough quality control mechanisms set in place, the human factor is always not far behind.

Sorry to hear about the misfortune.

My advice...take the next two days off!!!

I knew Pablo was working behind the scenes for you, good on you, Pablo :)

And kudos to the OP for keeping a cool head about all this, I'm not sure I would have been that nice.

Sorry to hear about that, but think how it MIGHT have been worse. Glad to hear you have all your extremities intact.

IT'S GREAT WE HAVE PABLO IN ACTION. BUT IF YOU ARE A DEALER, WHERE IS YOUR SPONSOR OR DIRECT JOBBER AT IN THIS SITUATION? SOMEONE IN YOUR UPLINE HAS TO HAVE SOME CLOUT WITH AMSOIL TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM, BECAUSE A 5 GALLON PAIL WOULD HAVE TO BE A DROP IN THE 55 GALLON DRUM FOR AMSOIL.

Thanks to Pablo's hard work for a guy who's not even his customer (me) Amsoil has agreed to send me a replacement 5-gallon pail of hydraulic oil.

I can't thank Pablo enough for what he did. We already knew this, but it shows what a stand-up guy he is, even in the face of insults some of the haters threw at him.

Thanks also to Mola and everyone else who took the time to understand the situation and give me prudent advice.

Amsoil has done the right thing will they also pick up the tab on the testing that was involved.

Under the circumstances I believe they have done all that is required. It's not even my problem but as a fellow member of BITOG I give a big thanks to Pablo for getting involved and helping a fellow member and being an example of what all Amsoil reps should be. Sometimes customer service trumps brand loyalty.

My guess is that somewhere in the shipping chain a (not so nice) tractor owner spotted the Amsoil and decided he'd like it in his tractor. He probably emptied it and refilled with ST or similar inexpensive fluid and let that be delivered to the OP.
It was good of Pablo to get involved.
