Stranded again!!! 🙄

I had a 1988 Jeep Cherokee back in the day that quit running on me that a total gas station started right up. Let it run for 1520 minutes. The mechanic said I should be fine. I drove about 2 miles to quit again and had it towed back. Turns out there was something in the electronic ignition module. Once it got hot. It quit replace that I was good to go.

If it's a diesel then I'm not sure there is emissions equipment to worry about? Not sure why purge valves would matter here.

Wonder if there's an intermittent electrical gremlin hiding in the works. Did it crank and just not fire, or did it play dead? Towing and then riding down a bumpy road might have jostled something, but, it can unjostle later. Does this have an electric lift pump in the tank?

Bummer no matter what. Good luck finding the gremlin.

I have absolutely no experoence with Dodge but Quite a few diesels I did work on that hat hot restart failures it was the TDC sensor. They get heatsoaked while stopped and stop providing a good signal. They work again once cooled off a bit. There's usually no fault codes, the engine ecu often isn't aware you were cranking.

because OP didnt mention any of that and said gas station.

A trailer will usually be extra for most tow companies. Some can't handle them at all-or don't wish to.
I was actually discussing this exact thing with the tow truck driver. I said you guys towed me last week and it was only $225 for just the truck. Although I was a bit closer to the house this time, but not much. I just think its not my fault their equipment cant tow the trailer. I think they should have just called a second wrecker and honored their $250 original price. It was like a 3.5hr ordeal getting home yesterday have to wait for that same driver to make a 45 minute drive 4 times. Who knows, maybe its just one of those, it's what it is situations 🤷

So i got one truck in the shop for a new turbo, so im driving my older dodge. It wouldnt restart at the gas station. Then the I had my trailer with me and my bullydog coupler wouldn't fit on the hitch of the tow truck, so I had to pay for a separate tow and wait for them to come back and grab the trailer. This is why I have two trucks, so this does not happen 😒 what a day....... so im like $600 deep in tow bills right now. Mechanic couldnt find any issues when I brought it to him and it started tight up
Fuel pump going out? I was stranded in Knoxville after stopping at Wendy's in our 2000 Ford Taurus. I had it towed to local Ford dealer (Saturday) on Monday they said it started right up. Fuel pressure regulator was a bit off so they changed it out. 2 weeks or so later the Taurus started stumbling at our house. Took it straight to my mechanic...new fuel pump.

So today the fuel pressure dropped to 0 for a fuel seconds. Would the crank sensor cause that? Truck kept running. That was strange because I was coming up to speed and didnt feel like I lost pressure

I dont think so. Its got a fass fuel system. You can hear it running. I have a fuel pressure guage

yes; crank sensor would stop everything, the ecu thinks you stalled or shut down the engine. But it shouldn't keep running.

It kept running that time. Thst time it stalled, i wasnt paying attention to what the fuel pressure was doing.

Its either the ecm, then vp44 or that crank sensor causing the stalling. I already sent the ecm off to be fixed for the delayed wait to start light. They fixed that a couple years back. Oh and I'll have to look into how to direct wire the fuel pump. Pretty sure the ecm controls that and that can be problematic so I've heard

I hate when that happens....
I used to have 2 cars (for around 10 years) and only had it happen once where both were broken at the same time. Very annoying! I ended up driving the one that was leaking gas to pick up parts for the other one.
