So i got one truck in the shop for a new turbo, so im driving my older dodge. It wouldnt restart at the gas station. Then the I had my trailer with me and my bullydog coupler wouldn't fit on the hitch of the tow truck, so I had to pay for a separate tow and wait for them to come back and grab the trailer. This is why I have two trucks, so this does not happen 😒 what a day....... so im like $600 deep in tow bills right now. Mechanic couldnt find any issues when I brought it to him and it started tight up

I think they kind of did me dirty on the tow bill this time. I cant remember if they gave me the option to call someone else or what. I think that was only for the trailer, but I dont know. Its not my fault it didnt fit. Its a common bullydog 2-5/16" coupler. It wouldnt clear his stinge, so it would have messed some stuff up if we drove off like that. Ended up loading the trailer on the flatbed

A trailer will usually be extra for most tow companies. Some can't handle them at all-or don't wish to.

Last week it was $225 for just the truck. This time assuming they could have taken both at once, it would have been $250, but it was $185 for times two when they realized the traiker wasnt going to fit on the trailer hitch. Its just a hole on the end of his stinger lift

Can this cause problems? I leave them running if it is hot and the kid is in the car.
If the evap purge valve is on it will draw liquid fuel through the entire evap system potentially ruining the evap canister and drawing liquid fuel in through the purge valve into the intake manifold

No. Its a diesel. I didnt fill up at all. Just got something to drink and a breakfast burrito. I usually always fill up with it running though
You said gas station just assumed you filled with gasoline. Diesel is a different story filling while running than gas

I've put 100k miles on my current car and 97% of the time the engine is running while I fill it up.
Consider yourself lucky. The ECM must not have been commanding the purge valve on when you’ve been fueling. I can’t tell you how many explorers I have replaced canisters on for this very reason

I thought you just weren't supposed to top it off a bunch. Im pretty sure the cops leave their cars running at the pump. They have explorers here.

You’re not. But they do. Our department the cars run nearly 24/7. Much like the fire apparatus. Very busy city

They have to keep all their computers and stuff running. I think all that stuff overheats and quits working

So what's the deal with this coupler? I have the same issue on my jetski trailer. I have like 5 or 6 trailer balls that a guy sold me for like $2ea and some of them have too tight of a bend in them and you can only use them as a rise and not as a drop, otherwise it hits the larr where it bends upwards. I guess its s little bigger. I could see where the lip of other trailer couplers had worn a grooved in that guys stinger.

With the engine running, the purge valve is commanded on and off constantly (duty cycle) by the PCM. So technically, it is on.
