I tried using the search feature. But, as always, I'm pretty sure it's like the "door close" button on elevators...

Anyway, was at AZ today and saw STP Synthetic oil. Now, it could be that I'm living under a rock, but I don't remember seeing STP brand oil before...???

Please discuss. I'm sure it's fine, but I'm looking forward to learning more about it than I will ever need to know!

I recently saw STP 5w20 at Ross / Marshals clothing store. It's a weird second hand close-out retailer.

They had about 5 quarts - a mixture of conventional and synthetic bottles

Haha didn't expect to see my post linked. XD

My brother who works at autozone says people love this stuff. There are a lot of guys who are hardcore STP/Mobil oil filters since they were made by champion. Also at our store the conventional is marked $14.99 for 5 quarts individual bottles or bulk bottle. If they would do an oil change special for $14.99 i would probably be using it in the girls car all day every day. I don't think it is a brilliant oil, but I imagine the conventional is fine for a 5k OCI and the Synthetic would be fine for a 7500 OCI.

AutoZone phased out their AutoZone brand of engine oil & has replaced it with the STP. I don't know much about STP oil but I'm guessing it's good since it carries all the necessary certifications. :-)

I tried to find this out before, but I couldn't work it out. I wouldn't be surprised if they blended their own stuff.

The address Lexington Av, Painesville, OH, USA. Comes up a lot.

It looks like a lot bigger group than I first thought. Here is a nice bit of history

What is STP other than a licensed trademark?

Is this oil really STP, or just a store brand style oil?

Like those "STP" branded additives added to Marathon gas!

This oil is weird in color... When it pours out the bottle - it's like motor oil mixed with powersteering fluid or something. Kinda has a light blue haze color, you can barely see through it. Both the mineral and high mileage habe that color, and the synthetic is more transparent, but still blueish. Weird...
