Stihl battery powered mower

This is the lawn mower section, just not one that uses oil or fuel. Anyone know of anyone that has a Stihl battery powered mower? We are looking at moving and the amount of yard to mow is going to be about a 1/4 acre if that. Was wondering as time goes on it seems battery powered lawn equipment is getting popular and if you own a small yard it kind of makes sense.

1/4 acre is NOT a small yard for an 18 inch mower.

I bought the EGO 21inch did everything great but cut grass. Left streaks a uncut areas yard looked horrible after mowing. Returned to Home Depot.

To draw a better conclusion, could you tell us how many Volts the battery was rated to and if possible how many amps. There's a wide variance in the power ratings. Everyone understands torque on gas powered mowers but not too many people have a handle on torque of battery powered lawn mowers.

Battery voltage and amps does not tell you the motor torque, though some 21" Egos use a 56V/5Ah battery. You might roughly deduce it based on blade weight, length, RPM, type of motor and efficiency compared to a known constant (existing mowers with similar specs), but practically speaking a lower torque motor would either spin a shorter blade or you'd push it slower, leaving runtime as the greatest obstacle to battery power. Well, that and having a lower lift blade to make the motor /battery combo more efficient (less power used blowing air like a fan) but pull the grass up less for a less uniform cut.

It's like buying printer cartridges versus buying a whole new printer (cost wise)

I see cordless tools (MINUS a battery) sell for super cheap all the time, because a new battery is the entire value of the tool ( battery included!! ) at that point.

Dewalt 20 V 5AHr Lithium ion battery on Amazon.com is $70. Most of our knowledge on battery tools is with nickel metal hydride. That's old school technology. They are cheap because they are obsolete.

Home Depot sells a Dewalt battery powered lawnmower for $400. It uses two 20 V lithium ion batteries. To replace them is about $160. Check it out on www.homedepot.com

As mentioned above I know a couple of people that own the Stihl battery lawnmower. They really like it. Their yards are small though. A quarter of an acre might be pushing it.
