Hi all. I've looked at this site, can't seem to locate what I need to know.

I have a 1998 Corvette with a 6-speed manual transmission. the trans is filled, at the factory, with ATF, rather than 90wt. gear oil.

The trans shifts OK most of the time, but it's a little sticky going into some of the gears sometimes. I thought I'd ask about any kind of "super slick" lube that I could add to the trans to make the gears shift more easily.

Any suggestions?

thanks

Dana

Skip the additive and change the fluid.

Mobil1 ATF is available almost anywhere.
The boutique crowd (Specialtyformulations/Amsoil/Redline/RoyalPurple/Neo/Torco....)
have quality ATF's and MTF's that could be used.

Add a couple fluid ounces of ARX and run for 500 miles before changing out the old ATF. You'll get a better percentage of contaminants to drain if you do. Will likely feel some improvement even before you change out the old fluid.

The only additives I think are useful for transmissions are either Auto-RX or else Lubegard. There are people here who have acheved good results with Auto-RX. Lubegard was actually approved for use in transmissions by some major automakers. Since I have had manual transmissions for a long time I don't think I have used Lubegard in the transmissions. But I did get good results with Lubegard for power steering.

Your Corvette's 6-speed is speced for a low viscosity fluid from the factory.

For daily driving use our MTFGlide and if you're racing, use our SynchroGlide .
