Tapo cameras and doorbell by TP-Link have free local storage with a cloud (paid) option. They seem to work flawlessly. I haven't tried any battery operated ones yet.

That's what I have as well. I especially like their doorbell camera, the field of view and clarity is superior to the ring doorbell cam that was installed by the previous owner.
