Can you clarify a couple of things, because they just aren't clear in your original post:

Which direction was she coming from?

Was she turning from a cross street onto the road you were traveling on, going in the same direction as you, or in the opposite direction of you, or was she on the same road as you, turning onto the cross street traveling to your right?

If she was in the opposite direction of travel as the road you were on, and she was turning onto the cross street going to your right, and she was stopped at the intersection before you arrived there, then she had the right of way, not you. You violated her right of way.

If she was stopped at the cross street, and turning onto the road you were traveling on, in either direction (with your direction, or opposite), then she was supposed to wait for you to pass, since you had stated that cross traffic was already in the intersection.

I can't begin to even count how many times I get to four way stop sign intersections and people clearly don't have a darn clue as to who has the right of way.

To clarify:
There were several cars waiting in each direction. This was at the intersection of crossing 2-lane roads with wide shoulders in each direction, no turn lanes. When we were both at the intersection we were facing each other and she didn't have a turn signal on. When she started to move/turn I was already at least 8' into the intersection. When I stopped I was blocking more than 1/2 of the lane she was turning into so she had to drive around me to get into the lane.

There was no "first person" to the intersection and I was already in the intersection before she started moving. Also she didn't have a signal on. For all I knew she was going straight.

What I think happened is she was watching the cross traffic and didn't notice that I had started moving before the cross traffic cleared completely. She proceeded to turn before she noticed that I was already in the intersection. That startled her so she mashed on the stupid pedal to make sure she could make it in front of me rather than stopping. At which time she was able to take control of the wheel with one hand and express her enthusiasm with the other and her mouth.


For those that are curios, I was driving through Morro Bay on my commute home from work.

Not sure because we've been on max overtime for over 3 years now so we've been thru $3-4 gas already. At worse, we may slow down to a regular work week. I think that most of the buyers of our trucks don't care much about gas prices or absolutley need the room or can simply can afford it. True, there will be many who will mind and instead buy a more economical vehicle.

The main fear I have is the price point - meaning at $3-4 a gallon we were not effected...but if we reach past $4-5/gal I am pretty sure my plant will feel the pain.
