startup/idle noise Supertech filter

The startup And idle noise I get from some filters (FRAM Ultra, tough guard, Bosch D+)
Is virtually non existent while using an ecore or economy filter

These new Super Tech filters sound nice, the only other time I've heard the engine this smooth was instances I used an STP Ecore, luberfiner ecore or a Magneti (expensive) filter

Think I found my new 2.84$ gem

Like my experience with ACDelco filters on the family's SAABS. When I unscrew them I always get a torrent of oil held back by the ADBV. I have no other criteria and I don't know if other ACDelco filters would pass this "test" on other engines. Kira

Sounds similar to my experience with the Delcos on my Equinox. I am going to try the Mobil 1 extended guard with my next change (closeout on Rockauto) but the delcos have been whisper quiet with my vehicles.

Have you used any other cheap Wix-made filters?

The new Supertech is most likely similar if not identical to the Napa Silver, Proselect, O'Reilly Microgard, Pro-Tec, Parts Master, old pre-Fram pre-AAP takeover Carquest Red, etc.

Have you used a Wix or Napa Gold on that car?

WOW what a coincidence. I just finished doing an oil change 30 minutes ago on my 98 S10 4.3 with the new ST3980 Supertech from Walmart. For the first time since I bought the truck 1 1/2 years ago the engine knocked for a few seconds after I started it up right after the change. This is my fourth oil change and have used Fram EG3980, Wix 51036 and AC Delco PF52 Classic without any noise whatsoever. Also, it took the oil pressure and extra 2 or 3 seconds to move from 0 to 45 with this Supertech filter. Oh well, back to the AC Delco!!!!!

Drain back valve has nothing to do with engine noise right after an oil change. That's normal.

^^^ A filter change is the ultimate "ADBV leak down" ... being that the filter is removed and all the oil galleries will drain out with the filter off the engine.

If the engine doesn't make start-up noises again after being ran with the new filter, then wouldn't worry about it.
