Just had an idea the other day and thought I would share it.
Has anyone seen "at home automotive" oil changes? I thought this could be a big hit but after thinking about it a bit more, it does not seem too logical.
We have a similar service here that goes around but they are a fairly small outfit. however, if properly marketed I think this could be quite large.

The best scenario (to me) would be "at work" changes. Folks commute in from the suburbs and park in the same garage/lot. Then your vehicles will be more concentrated; you could schedule specific zones and do many vehicles at once. Give referral coupons so the whole office will get hooked. Offer M1 for the snooty BMW types who can never make time for a service appointment and just show up three times a year. Get them to prepay for a whole year and give 'em a small break on price. Hire a kid to detail/vaccum too maybe when you're working on the next car.

the the towns where I and my parents live there are mobile mechanics. they will do tune-up and oil changes anywhere you'd like them to. if there are none of those in your area then go for it. there is a market for it. you just ahve to figure out how to market your idea.

Hate to be a "wet rag" on the oil change at work scenario, but I suspect most companies would quickly develop a "no work on cars in the parking lot" policy due to legal liabilities.
