Starter still worked

After helping me replace the starter on my Briggs 26hp ELS, my neighbor decided to replace his on the same engine. This is what he found when he opened up the old starter, which was still spinning but not particularly well.

Starters are a weak point on B&S engines, especially the V-Twins and Opposed Twins. Not sure why. I've replaced a ton of them, and not many Kohlers, Kawasaki, or Honda starters. A few on the Chonda snowblower engines.
 
I got my mower out today after sitting all winter it took a lot of pull starts to get it running. Hope the next charge up go good.
 
I've used the quick JB Weld to repair similar motor magnets. Believe it or not, it generally works! Sure, the lines of flux are disturbed, but if all the pieces are put back, it is generally good enough
Just don't glue them on upside down!!!!!!o_O
