I have a similar issue with the blowing of fuse when activating clutch. I created a fused jumper and can hear the clutch engage when connecting positive lead to battery and the top horizontal connector on the clutch wire. I was kind of surprised to not need the ground wire, but that is not the big issue. With this setup, the when the motor is running, I can engage the blade fine with my fused jumper.
The machine worked fine for last year, but recently would die periodically, but restart fine. Then is seemed to have partially melted the blade engagement switch and blew the fuse. got a new switch, but it still pops fuse when blade clutch is activated.
Oddly, it seems that that switch is on the ground side. I can see voltage between red switch wire and red battery lead. Activating the switch, seems to divert the ground connection from the top circuit to the lower one that feeds the blue wire to clutch. Had a friend look at it too and he was also confused with the switch seeming to be on the ground and not red battery line. how did it work fine for months, and then somehow seem to switch polarity on the switch?
