Ok, but that has nothing to do with the temperature range, even more, the 5W30 surely has a better VI than the 10W30 or 30 so it would give better viscocity protection in case the engin temperature over passes 100°C.


I can assure you an air cooled generator going to get a little bit hotter than than 212 degrees. More like 220-230 is fairly normal.

??? That's a major generalization there.

SAE30, 5w30 and 10w30 are all rated as a "30 weight" at 100C.

Which one holds-up better beyond 100C is going to depend on the quality of the formulation, the blend, etc...

Although the cold isn't a significant issue here in Fl, I use Defy 10w40 in my Miller/Onan powered Bobcat.
For budget option, 5w30 Defy?
