Staggered ARX Treatments

OK, I have finished the cleaning phase, and am about 150 miles in to the rinse phase. However, I have heard that it is best to work the ARX at high heat. By the time my clean phase is done, we will be getting in to cooler weather.

Is it better to wait for next summer for the second treatment, or begin it immediately after the first rinse phase?

A clarification, "by the time my RINSE phase is done....cooler weather.

The engine is still going to run hot.

Duh, my mistake, The engine will still get up to operating temperature, even when the weather cools. I gues the thermostat will open less frequently is all.

No matter what you do the time driving after the "cleaning phase" is the "rinse phase". There is no way to not start the rinse phase one you change the oil after the cleaning phase.

The internal temperature of the engine isn't very dependent on the outside temperature unless you have an oil cooler or a deep, ribbed oil pan. Even at that I don't think it would make a real difference for the rinse phase.

The mileage numbers allegedly factor in all service profiles ...short ..long ...severe ...ect. About the only thing it can't account for is someone who does less then 1500 in their time weighted OCI.

If you really want to be picky about it (as I was when I ARxed one of my cars), and if you have the time, you might ensure you are getting the most out of your $25 by taking several long drives during the next cleaning phase, as I imagine it does get rather cold in MD. For me this made for some excellent excuses for some day trips to Atlanta to hit the bookstores and a great Indian restaurant.
