A while back I posted about my ARX treatments (2 of them in succession). I mentioned the small brown specs in the oil that drained out of the filter during the rinse and clean phases.

Well, I just pulled my filter after my first post-ARX oci. Same brown specs were trapped by the filter w/o ARX, and looked to be greater in number (although this is 3000 miles on the oil as opposed to the 2000 for the rinse phase)

Therefore: No way to tell if ARX cleaned anything or not. I still have one rinse phase filter. No difference in the rinse phase filter and the normal OCI filter (other than the rinse phase filter is slightly darker - but a different oil was used Valvoline 10-40 as opposed to GC). Neither filter is clogged.

My test was a bust

I would have had to pull the valve covers prior to the treatments, and then post to see if any visible cleaning occurred inside the motor. The filters certainly didn't tell any stories.

What kind of vehicle and how many miles on it?

I cut my OEM oil filter in half and pulled out the filter media and was surprised by how much crud was captured following the rinse phase on my 95 Maxima.

Granted, the car has an aluminum block and is not prone to sludge, but I feel that I got my money's worth. My fuel economy and idle improved and now can't even hear the engine running at idle when the windows are closed.

1995 BMW M3 currently ~128,000 miles. I am not saying ARX didnt or did do anything, just posting my results of what my 'tests' show. I can cut open the one rinse phase filter I have, but would need a hacksaw to do so.

BTW: please tell me if I need to do anything to see any crud in this type of filter, or should I be able to see clogging 'as is'?

The pics I had posted earlier are useless, as all of them looked almost exactly the same.

I do believe the ARX got rid of some ticking noise and may have improved, but that is anecdotal, no way to measure that, as it is just a guess on my part.

Here is the link to my old thread

Also: Could it be possible that GC is rinsing some crud that didn't get rinsed out during the first two ARX treatments (yes I did 1 clean and 1 rinse per treatment)

Did you just switch to synthetic oil with the GC or did you use synthetic before?

If you just converted to synthetic, it is possible that the cleansing process will continue.

Hack that oil filter open and look at the filter media.

I will borrow a hack saw from my Dad, because I hate running a test without seeing results. May be there are no results to see, but I really wanted to like this product after all i had read.

Im about to try auto rx although the valve train looks top notch ill be courious to see if it does anything to the insides of the cylinders.

How many pictures do we need to see? How many before and aft compression tests? IMO the product is the best product available encompassing green technology with the ease of drive while you clean convenience.
