ST43 = ST16?

Supertech ST43s are on closeout, a dollar apiece at my walmart. The box says it crosses to STP S16. My ST16 that I know fits my 91 dakota 2.5 also crosses to STP S16.

Is this filter a winner at $1? Seems to have the very common 3/4 x16 thread pitch but am wondering about bypass pressure. Also wonder why it ever existed as a different part number.

Per their boxes,
ST43 also crosses to Fram PH43, AC PF20.
ST16 = Fram PH16, AC PF13, Motorcraft FL200.

I recently bought some of those #43 filters from Walmart. I sized them up...They seem to be #16's labeled as #43's because they are the same size as other brands of #16's

My ST16 and 43 do share the same height. Suspect Champ labs got wondering, "what's the point?" and discontinued ST43 once the catalogs were updated.

I used the Fram PH43, AC PF20 on my 89 Nissan truck years ago and when Walmart started the ST line they referenced the ST16 as the xref (years ago anyway).
I am not a big fan of the "clicker" type of bypass made by Champion (I do use the Champion/ST filters in my Chevy trucks though because the bypass is in the filter mount..).
The Motorcraft FL300 is what I use in the Nissan these days. The Motorcraft bypass is ok by me and it has 293 sq in of media vs the old AC pf20 which had 243 sq in last time I checked.
The MC filter is shorter than the pf20 also, so keep in mind that you have to compare the insides to make a good/total comparison.
