All they care is to use a filter that will get the job done for a 3K OCI. Why would I spend twice the the money on a P1 or Wix for a truck that gets about 5,000 PER YEAR. Same things goes for my wife, she see only 4,000K miles PER YEAR. We will trade her car in before we even put 20K miles on it since we got. it. I run a P1 on my Civic because I do 6K OCI in about 4 months.
Dman, where did I say Purolator is not a quality filter? and where did I say ST has a good filter efficacy rating? I even admit earlier that it's not as good as a P1. You are putting words into my mouth. What did you expect from a filter that cost $2.50? It's made for something that will get the job done, for an average filter. Answer this question for me.... What will I benefit from using a P1 or Wix in the next 4 years or 16K -20K miles before we trade our Pathfinder in for something else, The way I see it is, I'm wasting money on something that is NEEDED. If my engine will die in that time frame by not using a Purolator, I would be glad to make the switch.
Never said you said a thing, you do what you want man just stating what i know from NUMEROUS filter examinations.
