basically i have the everything 1500 minute plan + 1 additional phone. also, my wife has the everything 1500 minute plan + 1 additional phone.

instead, we'd like to combine these into an everything 1500 minute plan + 3 phones (much cheaper this way).

is this allowed?

Unless your contract says it is, it isn't.

That said, if one or both of your contracts will expire in the next few months, you have some leverage and they might do it to keep you as a customer.

Or, if you are newlyweds who had your individual contracts before you got married, they might have some sympathy and give you a break.

yes they existed before we got married but there is a while before they expire. we could pay the early termination thing on one of them, couldn't we? i believe from looking at things even with that penalty, we would break even after 2 months and then it would save us every month afterwords.

Unless you need more than 2 phones, canceling one contract and breaking even in two months sounds like a good option.

You also have some bargaining power if you want to do something else.

well it turns out the answer is yes! there is a simple form called the transfer of liability form. i transferred my phone and the kids phone over to her plan (which has her phone and another kids phone on it). the cost for this transfer was/is $0. no early termination fees apply as i still have a "sprint plan" on my new phone (treo 800w) its just under her name now.

fyi, while there another couple came in and did the same thing. apparently this is very common and no big deal.
