Spring is in the air

Yes I like landscaping my property and I get a lot of work done at this time of year and the fall, i’m constantly planting trees and cutting other trees down, in another month or two will be seeing 90 to 100° temperatures for a solid 4 to 5 months.
This works out perfect because we love the 5+ months of hot summer, trips to the mountains, boating on our 41 mile long lake, vacations on the SC coast and northern Gulf coast of Florida just love it Part if why we moved south 15 years ago.

yes! bring on the heat! I've been ready for spring & summer warmth since the first 40* night in late October. I'm definitely not a winter fan. I love being outdoors & enjoying the warm sunshine. I haven't traveled much over the last year or so but we got big vacation plans this summer. if all goes well ill be relaxing on a beach in Maui by mid June

Maui I can get behind. We were in Kauai in February of 2020, warm but totally comfortable. Nothing like the summer heat in Florida.

Serious question, how do you survive mentally when half of the year is winter? This year our January was awful - constant light snow made for bad roads half of the month and it was just cold and miserable. February wasn't nearly as bad and now we are enjoying great weather. But just that 4 or 5 weeks of bad weather makes me wonder how people can withstand 4 or 5 months of what I consider bad weather.

its very tough on me sometimes. wasnt too bad when i was younger, in my teens and 20's but now that im pushing 1/2 century old, its all i can do is cope with the cold dark misery winter brings. me and my wife are seriously considering moving to a warmer place. hawaii, southern california, certain places in arizona. she is actively researching those areas to find the best place. the winter definitely takes a toll on me and my sanity. i find it extremely depressing.

I couldn’t deal with snow and gloomy dark sky for a few months each year.

T-shirts and shorts are great for Dec - Feb here in Florida. I would rather cut the grass in the winter time than shovel snow.

This is true..looking forward to Christmas gets you through the first chunk and by late February I'm over it. Depends on locale though...here it can get extremely cold but rarely overcast for days on end...might be -20F but it'll be sunny which is a big difference. I don't mind snow blowing and just have to make a fun challenge out of it: keep the concrete on the driveway visible all winter lol.

I still manage winter o.k. at age 66, but I'm a bit of an oddity. Because my career has me very busy during the growing season, I consider winter a bit of a respite, even though I still attempt to work outdoors quite a bit to preserve my sanity (I cannot stand to be indoors too much, especially at a desk). I lived in the Upper Peninsula for a number of years, so southern Michigan winters seem like a breeze to me. I do dislike the sloppiness of winters here and now we seem to get a rain or two in January/February, which sucks.

Winter is about embracing it rather than fighting it. Relax a bit. Get out and do things. Catch up on some bad television and read a bit. Enjoy the change of seasons.

Still snowing today here in the middle of Iowa. Feels like spring will never come this year. Nothing above the upper 50's forecasted for the next 10+ days with lows in the 20's.

Yeah it's sometime in Feb that I'm done. I've long thought a week or two in sunny FL in Feb would be enough to get over the hump, but honestly I suspect the winter blues start in earlier.

The older I get the more I think of moving but spring/fall can be so nice here, and summer so brutal elsewhere. Plus the wife loves winter, hates the heat and humidity, so she'd never want to go with me if I were to relocate. Neither of us do real well in full sunlight... Maybe later in life I'll figure out how to jet away for more winter vacations.

I find that to be the case also, it's the lack of sunshine that gets me down, not the temperature. Long nights with grey overcast days for weeks on end are terrible, but a cold but sunny day is good.

By the time february is well on it's way the days get longer so the chances of getting some sun get better aswell.
