what exactly is this stuff used for, im under the impression that u use it if the car is slightly dirty but not dirty enough to wash it, i wanna know exactly what its used for and what is the "best" kind to get?

Correct, some use if slightly dusty. Some also use it to "refresh" the gloss/slickness of a wax or sealant after washing the vehicle. The best QD I have used is 425 from Finish Kare. Super slick.
Yup, 425 is pretty nice.
I've been using Eagle One, 303, Black Magic and others for fingerprints, light dusting, and small bug splats on my motorsickles. They all pretty much do the same thing, although the stuff by Mothers tends to streak a little more.
Aerospace 303 on paint? Never tried it on paint as a QD. Even so, if for protection, seems like wax or sealant would be better. Interesting

I have the #425 and ClearKote QuickShine. I prefer the Quickshine but both are top notch. I like the Quickshine because I think it is glossier and works equally well on both sealants or carnauba wax.
I use 303 on plastic/ lexan/ lucite windshields most of the time (and black plastic dash areas), but in a pinch I'll use it on painted plastic body panels on the bikes. I really don't have to buff it that much much using a microfiber cloth.
i think i'll go with the 425 from Finish Kare, cause i know they make quality stuff. A question is tho what would be bad to use quickdetailer on? i mean i am not overly fimilar with the use of this stuff and i dont want to mess up the paint or anything on my car.
You can use 425 on your paint, wheels, glass, tires.
That is what lazy people who dont care about their paint and dont mind micro-fine swirls(micro-marring)do.
Dont get me wrong, they are great products, I use Meguiar's Qwik Detailer religously, I cant run out of it! But its best used after washing and drying your car...use it to remove the subtle water spots, finger prints and other contaminents that may have gotten past the washing(some bug guts are a real pain to get off).
Some people will suggest using it as a quick car wash in a bottle...but Id totally advise against it!!!
Agreed..I only apply this to my freshly washed truck, which protects the paint from micro-scratches later when I dust it off. Don't use it on a really dirty car, as you're doing more harm than good.
thats what i figured, i was told use it about an hour or so after waxing it to make it really shine. Does that sound right?
Actually, QDs are in three, different catagories: cleaning, during and after wash touch up, and enhancer/topper. For cleaning there is only one to consider as it gets no better than Poorboys Spray and Wipe. It takes nothing from the finish and returns nothing, ie, it adds some extra shine but not much. A concentrated version of DP 4 in 1 is also a good, cleaning only QD. Lately, I've been experimenting with Duragloss Fast Clean and Shine and it cleans almost as well as the SW but adds a bit more gloss. This one has potential! But in this respect, I think I will put it in category two, as I would the FK425 that others have already mentioned. Eagle One and a few other otc brands are also good products that do well as a general, all around QD but as in any compromise, peak performance is achieved at neither end. These kinds of QDs add gloss and a tad of additional, short term protection to your last step product, be it carnuba or sealant. And they'll clean up bird bombs, dust and finger prints okay but can't compare to the power of the Poorboy. Dollar for dollar they are hard to beat.
The third kind of product should not really be considered QDs at all but they are often mentioned in detailing circles (and even advertised by their manufacturers) as such. These are usually polymer/acrylic toppers rather than wax based. Products such as Menzerna High Gloss Acrylic Shield, Wofgang Spritz, Sonus Spritz and several others seem to have part sealant/glaze in their formula based on their related entity. For example, the Menzerna has some of its sealant (Full Metal Jacket) in the HGAS formula. So too the Sonus is directly related to Klasse Sealant Glaze. Werkstats Acrylic Gloss is virtually a diluted version of their sealant, JETT. Duragloss Aquawax (which contains no wax but rather polymers) is used as a QD over the Duragloss 111 or 105 last step products. These specific products do not clean very well but they have extra boosters for added gloss and they enhance the durability of the specific sealant they are related to.
The bottom line is you should be aware of the attributes of the various products out there and be sure you get what you need for your purpose.

ok i ended up getting some 425, im not quite sure how to use it, i guess u just spray it on and wipe it off.. is that all there is to it?
