Happened to my brothers brand new 08 Honda Accord Coupe 5spd after 2,000 miles on the odometer.

The service receipt said "spider webs" on it.

Actually this was a warranty repair. The customer probably saw the receipt and was like *** is this?

Yeah, the first time I had this happen it took me about three days and two calls to tech line to figure out.

Oh, and yellow sac spiders are already throughout the US. Not a new import.

There are different species of yellow sac spiders:

"Yellow sac spiders which have been implicted in human poisonings include C. brevicalcaratum in Australia, C. inclusum in the United States and southwestern Canada, C. japonicum in Japan, C. mildei in the Mediterranean and the United States, C. mordax in Australia, the Central and Southwestern Pacific, and some parts of the United States (including Hawaii), and C. punctorium in Europe."

We don't have C. japonicum here.

C. japonicum is stated in Casarett and Doull's Toxicology to be more poisonous than other yellow sac spiders.

Quote:
In Japan. C. Japonicum produces more severe manifestations than we have seen with the American or European species. These include severe local pain, nausea and vomiting, headache, chest discomfort, severe pruritus, and shock in addition to the local findings

Earlier this year my mother's AC was single phasing the fan and the compressor was just humming. I figured it was shot but decided to see if the electrical connections to the compressor were still OK. Turns out the spider egg cases were damp and shorting out the wiring.

Cleaned it all out and runs as good as new. :)

Probably had a bad connection there. No way could you have something shorting out the wiring to the point where a motor stops working without flames shooting out of it or, more likely, the breaker tripping.
