I've been here helping a team make their runs. Yesterday I witnessed the tragedy of Chris Raschke crashing Speed Demon III, and passing away from his injuries. I met him years ago when George Poteet (RIP) was driving the first two Speed Demons. George was nice to everyone in my experience, even those competing against him in the same class. Chris was someone I met briefly, but he was also clearly a good guy.

Racing is dangerous. Chris knew all too well the dangers involved. He died doing what he loved. I can think of no better way to go. My condolences to his loved ones.

Godspeed Chris Raschke.

That said, Chris was a true fan and participant in Motorsports. He would want those involved to continue on enjoying their passion.

Here's an article about the car he was driving yesterday.

For any gearheads, Bonneville is a must-see. If you can't make it in person, watching this live video is a decent substitute. They will be broadcasting live every day through Friday, unless circumstances dictate an earlier shutdown of the live feed.

I am very sad hearing about this. I have gone to the ARP office in Ventura a couple of times and I am pretty sure he helped me one time. Very professional company that I recommend to everyone.

It's a harsh reality that the longer we live, the more good people we know who will pass on. ARP is a standard in the racing community, Chris will be missed.

Day 4 is being broadcast:

It's two guys putting this broadcast out on their own dime, just because they love LandSpeed Racing.

Like everyone out here with an entry, there's no money to be made. It's just because they love it.
