Anybody tried these?

I have a spectre cone filter in my SpecV, red, it's like a K&N... suppobly pre-oiled, but I'm worried if I should stay spray a bit of oil on it.

They're good filters almost as good if not equal to k&n and not to mention they cost less, even their intake systems are about 50 percent less than k&n i know Pepboys carry a lot of Spectre products including a rechange kit if you want to to clean your cone filter

i hope you have a "warm air intake" and not a true fenderwell cold air intake like mine, this is after 1 year on a Spectre in the fenderwell

granted those gashes in the first pic are my fault due to placement

I didn't see him blame the filter. He simply said that he hoped (paraphrased) you don't have a fenderwell installation.

I had an "out in the open" K&N scenario with my wife's jeep before I went back to the stock air box. It was just sitting above the engine. All kinds of dust on the forward edge. I only used it to open the air box location for a dual filter setup that's since been removed.

If he fab's a shield over the offended area he should be able to use the fenderwell location. It should not be too hard. I was too lazy.

Posting a picture of how bad it looks and saying he hopes you wouldn't use it in a fenderwell application had a different meaning to me I guess. No matter what filter it is, Spectre or not, it is probably going to come out looking like that unless something is changed. I've got a fenderwell intake on my Mustang, but the area is shielded so it just gets dusty/dirty after some time like all air filters do. :)

I wanna gonna make a cold air intake for it but I don't wanna stop driving over stuff to gain 1hp.

I tend to drive over mud, deep water, just about anything... so keeping it in the engine bay seemed like a good idea.
