Spark plugs from RA ‐‐ aka the lesson I never learn

Wait a sec. RA does not offer free shipping ????? I'm not a member, so I don't know. Walmart is $ 35 and over free shipping, then you have Scamazon's Prime ( really not free shipping ). Please enlighten me. Will be becoming getting an RA account shortly. unless otherwise informed. No free shipping. No account.
Why not look at the out the door price, if $11.99 shipping means it's more than Walmart, then go Walmart. If all the parts plus $11.99 is less than Walmart, go RA. That seems more rational lol

I thought they had gone to a minimum $40. for shipping years ago, I misunderstood.

Spark plugs are something that doesn't like being dropped or mishandled.
They should be packed in the center of bubble wrap in their own box. You know like when they have those school kids pack an egg and drop them from a helicopter, the egg that doesn't break wins the contest.
Almost no one knows how to pack things correctly.

Yes, I'll do my math homework on it. So , RA has pretty much " Tier" shipping prices. I understand now. The more expensive, the higher the tier. Thank you guys. And yes, Walmart still only has $ 35 min on shipping. I use them all the time. Actually, they have come up on their selection game on auto parts online. Cheap too., and quality parts...... Walmart not going down without a fight !!!!!!! :) LOL

Not when ya pay $40.00 for shipping zero savings there.
$9.99 shipping total - and I saved $13 per plug.

And I also got some Premium Gard filters for the Toyota for under $5!!!!

Only reason to go to the local store is I need it right now - like a pro would.

I got the Draw Tite hitch and Allen bike racks from Walmart.....neither amazon nor other etailers could touch their low prices. Also got a 20 lb propane tank from Walmart for $37 a couple years ago....they do win at times!

I forget to check walmart. I will try to remember. If they have it there hard to beat I agree.

Oddly, I ordered FCS shocks (beater pickup) from Zoro today. Used one of their 10% codes, threw in trash bags I needed and just hit the $50 threshold for free shipping ;)

Nah, Rockauto is a drop shipper that gets a fixed, low commission on every sale. Shipping costs what it costs and if it's too much for you they don't mind not getting your business. Amazon and WM are trying to build market share so don't mind taking the occasional loss on shipping. RA has been blowing out Pep Boys and Advance Auto stuff for years and it just keeps coming... $8 coated brake rotors, LOL. I've spent hours padding an order of necessary parts with future maintenance supplies from the same warehouse-- stuff like spark plugs, oil filters, windshield wipers, while watching the shipping fee.

If you have a business address and are allowed to receive mail there, RA is often cheaper on shipping thanks to FedEx and UPS being business-friendly with rates.

Although, lately, E-Bay has become a Ghost Town. Wonder if Executive Orders had anything to do with that ???????

You don't need an account for rockauto, and having an account doesn't affect the ship[ping at all.

When buying multiple items, look for the picture of the truck next to the part number. This will show you what ships from the same warehouse as other parts in your cart. Add one part to the cart, put in your zip code, then search for the other parts you need.

If you can have the parts shipped to a commercial address, the shipping will cost less.

Small parts including cabin filter inside with control arm and strut. All pillow packs were flat. Paid $46 Canadian shipping.

They'll replace 'em if you complain but they won't be in a hurry about it. Sometimes I make them do it on principle alone, although I didn't bother in the example that inspired my whining for this thread.

Indeed, the plastic prophylactics ‐‐ STRAIGHT OUTTA HESPERIA!, to quote a once famous rap band -- protected them enough and the gaps were consistent.

Useless trivia rambling:
The plugs for me here replaced OEM factory pieces in an '08 FJ Cruiser. Apparently for '07 and '08 Toyota used nickel Denso, which is what I removed. Given the gap had grown to .065 from .043 or .044 (depending upon what spec you find), I'm gonna say they were the factory plugs with 201k freedom units on the odometer. Not too shabby.

I love how frequently shipping charges are regarded with such outraged surprise and visceral, righteous contempt.
Sloppy packing and the dishonesty of RA's warehouse-go-round hurt more, IMO.

My tale comes from the '70's via the esteemed J.C. Whitney company.
I ordered strut cartridges and 4 sparky poos for my '72 Toyota Corolla De Luxe.
There was a price increase.
They sent the struts, 3 plugs and a cheque for the unused fraction of a single plugs price.
