For those who have been paying attention, Smug old South Australia regularly spruiks that its exporting renewable energy and that the state is running on renewables (even when it's running gas to provide stability)...all through the media, all through the headlines....they've also got the highest retail prices in Oz.

Same state I predicted would go black the evening before it did.

Well it's not really that windy at the present, down to about 3% of nameplate...and it IS winter...so here's yesterday.

Which reinforces completely that a renewable grid needs a whole backup system for the Dunkelflaute.

But Oz being Oz....if they are causing the problem...we must biold more of them.

(oh, and a lot of the "gas" is diesel...)

What is the “other” energy category?
Not sure for sure, I know that wineries have diesel gens for their own security, and have seen them make considerable money. There's a couple if diesels that were retired that came back in...but I'm sure that only part of "other"

Isn't "other" the imports from Vic?

So they are the prices....$15,000/MWh is 15 bucks per kWh....I think retail in south Oz is about 35c....and climbing.

There are companies that offer a monthly fee and you pay the wholesale price...Gamers with batteries can make $20/day on arbitrage, espacially with solar...others have never seen bills of the scale of a normal houshold usage pattern
