A FIRST AID kit.
Timely topic. About 2 weeks ago, I came upon a vehicle stopped in a triangle where two roads merge: Freeway exit and side-road. He had his flashers on. Couldn't see what was going on as I was exiting, so I went around, parked on the other side of the side-road retaining wall and jumped over with a flashlight.
RR tire was absolutely shredded. He'd begun jacking it up without first loosening the lug nuts, plus the inner tire rim was over the outer wheel rim, blocking access to a few lug nuts. All he had was a stupid OEM bent wrench about 12" long.
I handed him a reflective vest as he was actually in the side-road lane, on his knees, attempting to loosen the lug nuts. I stood behind his vehicle about 15yrds waving my bright flashlight at oncoming cars to slow down. Fortunately, it was around 9pm so traffic was light.
I left after 15 min. to call 911 and pull up behind him and put out safety triangles. When I came back, there were two cruisers!
I'm glad I helped keep him off the evening news.....
