I'll be living on a campus in Lexington a very long distance from home from the end of September to the end of June. I can't think of a place to store my summer/winter wheels (at their appropriate times) that won't end up costing me a stupid amount of money. Those storage lockers cost $30/month for a shady one that would probably get broken into once a month, and $50+ for the good ones. Which, at that price, why not just buy new wheels and tires every season?

I know absolutely zero people there, and I doubt I can just be friends with someone for a week and suddenly say "hey can I store my tires in your garage until I get out of here?", so it'd be best to find a way to store them for myself.

Anyone have a creative idea?

The dorm rules forbid stuff like hanging anything on the wall in any way, I doubt they'll take kindly to having 4 huge dirty tires in the room, whether they're covered or not.

A big bed with a cover to the floor? or-as said- and some of the tire dealers will store them, too-good luck

All season tires suck in summer and are completely useless in winter.

stack them up, cover them with a tarp or some other type of wrap and put a board over them so you can use them as a table. A couple of bar stools and you are all set.

I concur maybe 2-5% of drive time. Balance you drive normally on on dry roads especially with a non-performance car.

Suggest leaving them home and shipping if you find you actually need them. My winter tires from my long gone 88 Jetta gli 16v are still in parents barn when I attended grad school in Ohio

Seriously? Guess I must be one great driver with all the junk tires I have drove with over the last 40 years in Minnesota (some of them with RWD on a pickup too)...lol

Which Lexington? There are many.

But putting them under your bed would work...two there, two under your roommate's bed and you are set...but you'll have to buy him some beer LOL.

You made the thread asking for options and I gave you one of the most likely scenarios. Unless you find somewhere to put them, they're going to have to go either in the dorm or a car ...

Stick with all seasons. With a car good enough for summer tires, I would be afraid to leave it at school!

And buy real GOOD all seasons....should help too....
