So, which would you rather have?

I'd be glad if it was Chinese owned because it doesn't deserve what it took from the taxpayers.

My ION has been so bad to me that it might as well be made in China.

Unfortunately, it's true. The Chinese own us. How could this ever have happened to our country? It's becoming clearer than ever to me that the USA has been looted and laid to waste by a few greedy a$$holes who have control of our trade policies and would wh0re their own mother for a dollar.

The Chinese don't own [censored] but IOUs. Good for more IOUs.

Not gold or silver. Or anything tangible.

It is sovereign debt. Plus a large stock pile of Nukes = go pound sand at our discretion.

If you want to subsidize ineffecient overpaid blue collar US workers by overpaying for American made products that is your choice.

Overpaid? The US worker is the most efficient in the world. How much do you make? A lot of these "blue collar" jobs are skilled, and one should make decent compensation. So you're saying you'd rather subsidize China? The blue collar worker seemed to do well before all these insane trade policies that left them to compete w/4 dollar a day Chinese. Would you like to compete against that? By not "subsidizing" the blue collar worker, you shouldn't bish about paying higher taxes because he's on welfare and unemployment. Did you know that labor accts for only 15% of the total cost of a manufactured product? Maybe I think it's ok for you to lose your job to a more efficient Chinese, it's ok for you to lose your house and have to move far away from everything you know all for the sake of a handful of rich people, who had plenty to begin with, to help themselves to more. BTW I'm not that heartless.

False.

According to a 2007 study by the International Labor Organization, workers in Norway are the world’s most productive (when measured on an hourly basis), followed by the United States and France.

Well being 2 is pretty good. Also aren't Norwegian workers well compensated? I don't know how they calculated worker productivity in that study but maybe US blue-collar workers are the most productive in the world, and other types of workers are bringing the average down?

The US worker is more efficient by one measure (GDP versus payroll, I think). But not by all measures. Otherwise there would be no benefit in offshoring.

Dude: You just hit the nail on the head....100% correct and this has been going on for decades.

You are correct...offshoring is done due to gross wage benefit costs in part but regulations are the biggest part. No OSHA, unions, FTC, EPA, and all of the hundreds of other agencies in China. If it were just productivity vs wage costs then outsourcing would not so big. Taxation on local state & federal levels is another is another big reason as well. Manufacturers have to pay big taxes on inventory just sitting which eats into profits big time.

Norway? Ok....they look good on the chart but they are no manufacturing giant...unless I missed all the Norwegian cars and appliances the last time I went shopping....
