Honda recalls, can I choose which one to repair or must all be addressed?

I have 3 recalls on my 21 Honda Pilot:

  • 2020-23 Multi-Model Master Cyl Mounting Inspection Safety Recall

  • 2020-22 Multi-Model Seat Weight Sensor Safety Recall

  • 2019-23 Passport/Pilot MOST FAKRA Service Cables Safety Recall

I'm fine with the 1st 2 but the MOST FAKRA cable recall involves disassembling the dashboard. It's rather invasive and I've heard there are lots of comebacks due to the new cable being defective or the connections being disturbed. I am not having any problems with the infotainment system and would like to skip this recall.

Is it possible to decide which recalls to have addressed? I'm sure the tech won't mind lol, warranty labor probably doesn't pay a lot of time to have the dashboard R&I'd.

If it’s a safety recall I’m not sure a dealership is allowed to “skip” it. Call and ask a service advisor or manager first. Although the tech would love to skip it, it’s a dealers responsibility to run your vin and do any open recalls any time you’re in for service.

I skipped the MOST/FAKRA multiple times. I think they get some credit for talking you into it if they do. I started having some odd things with the system so when they had it to fix my firewall leak I said OK. Still waiting on fuel pump parts to get that done.

My understanding is that recalls are a mandatory fix. I do not believe that dealerships are allowed by law to skip a recall repair as long as the parts are available

Had them all done our 2022 passport. Put it off for awhile had the same concerns. Wife says radio sounds much better now. Dealer did a good job took about 4 hours for all recalls

We had a 20 Pilot and the infotainment center would go black occasionally and reset IIRC while driving. It fixed the problem but in the 21 the system works fine.

So I get no choice on the recall? Seems like if I own the car I should.

I realize I would have go sign something relieving them of liability.
Recalls are safety issues that NHTSA has decided the manufacturers must repair. Unless things have changed in the last decade or so if your car enters a dealer service bay, and said dealer has the parts to repair the recall, the rcall must be performed. As far as I know there is no such waiver available for this
