No, I disagree. It shows that I'm to hold all persons (including myself) accountable to the rules and keep the peace from a point of view of civility.

I don't think you proved anything any more than they disproved it.

Just because SOPUS will not share with you all their little Rotella secrets, does not make them "in bed" with WalMart any more than all the other oil companies that market their products on sale at that retailer. In any given month, there is always a brand of oil on sale. I've seen Mobil, Pennzoil, QS, MC, Havoline, Castrol, Chevron, etc all on promiment end-cap display at one time or another. And further, it is very narrow-minded to say that Walmart is the only oil retailer that gets a deal on lubes. Several times a year, there are other places such as , Meijer, Costo, and the auto-parts chains that get great deals on products.

Rotella PDS sheets don't satisfy you? You're not happy with WalMart? Fine - don't buy those products at that retailer. But that won't stop the rest of us from acknowledging the fine product performance and price points, and purchasing it when and where it fits our needs.

My son runs rotella in his 18 wheeler, 900,000 miles on the engine and no failures. I don't think truckers would be using it if it was an inferior oil. Now for all those folks that split hairs over oil and this add pack and so forth, u have the option to make ur own oil and then u can fuss at urself if it fails.

I would guess that between North America, Canada, Europe, and so on there is some oil out there that is better then anything u can make at home, amen?
I change my oil once a month because i run 8 to 10k miles per month. I use the K and N oil filter and it cost me $13 each time and the t-6 is 20 bucks or so. Oil changes are cheap, an engine change out is $6K or so. I have learned a lot in here about oil and the bottom line for me was, I found an oil that works best for me and my oil consumption is still zero at 272k miles on an old dodge 318 v8, 2002 cargo van.

Saying rotella is bad and having reached this conclusion by reading a post or an article and restating it as "fact" is at par with my 6 yr old saying santa is coming at midnight cuz her "mama" said so.

Buy it! Use it! UOA it! and then let's discuss the results of your UOA.

reminds me of the honda ridgeline discussion, quite a few experts who have never driven a ridgeline (forget owning one) had many pages of input and challenge comments from owner's of the vehicle.

Going back to the OP-I think his MAIN point was the loss of TBN and sulfated ash in the jump from CI-4+ to CJ-4, but ULSD has negated much of that. I am eventually going to be the brave (crazy?) person & attempt, with a cheap Ralph Wood TP bypass filter, to finally use my stash of OLD Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck, CI-4, and do a YEARLY TP change, along with a used oil analysis & top off, running either M1 or RP full-flow filters, and ZERO oil changes (unless the used oil analysis comes back bad)-it's going to take a while (just OC'd w/my CJ-4 Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck last weekend) & I don't run a lot of miles on this truck-but I want to see if the combo of ULSD + CI-4 oil really is superior to CJ-4.
