And let me say...what a POS that movie was...FFS half that movie is pitch black an you can't even distinguish the monsters. Overall I place it in the worst 20 movies I have ever saw in my life.

Next disappointment...Transformers.

Yes...didn't like the fact that so much of this movie seems to be filmed with [censored] lightning in order to cut some corners on the CGI.

How come they could make such awesome movies 20 years ago like Predator, Alien and Stargate but now they can't make a "good looking" monster for freaking 160 mil???

It was date night for me and the wife, and frankly there just wasnt anything that looked any better.. I agree that it would have been better as a Red Box rental.. and i have no plans to buy it, im just saying i wasnt mad that i seen it.. "coulda been alot worse"

99% of movie goers don't really demand anything of cinematic (or even entertainment) value; that is exactly what they get.

I'd pay $100 to see a movie like Brazil if anyone had the courage to make it today.

rottentomatoes.com thought it was 73% good. I've generally found that review site, collecting a bunch of different critical minds in one spot, to be reliable for quality. That said, of course its subjective. They already don't like the new Transformers coming out as much, like on 57% rating now, yet it has a Camaro in it, so, what else does it need?

I really had no intention of seeing Godzilla. From my very youth, it was beyond my comprehension that the best firepower of the time was ineffective against a giant lizard. And in this day and age, with such advanced weapons systems, I'm afraid I would get up and walk out if they portray Godzilla as indestructible as they did in the old movies.

I like fantasy movies. But certain types just don't work for me.

Around here where I live, there are never any movies playing that are worth seeing for the following reason, IMO.

The collective review in the theater after the ending of "No Country for Old Men":

"What happened???"

"Is that it???"

"I don't get it."

I read that Godzilla was panned in Japan because the audience thought Godzilla was too fat.

I've got to watch Brazil again. I recommend it to anyone who will listen. That said, I thought Godzilla was OK for mindless entertainment.

Godzilla isn't just a big giant lizard. Godzilla represents and embodies the potential of combining the power of modern technology with the power of nature. Godzilla, destroyer of Tokyo, is the great protector specifically of the Japanese people but also of humanity as a whole.

Godzilla cannot be destroyed by use of firepower less than would be needed to destroy the entire human race. He was created by the effects of the most powerful weapons available at the time. Use of more powerful weapons on him will only make him stronger.

Better you than me.

I decided many decades ago that I had far better things to do than sit around and pretend to be "entertained" by television or movies. It turns out that it was one of the best decisions my wife and I made.

I can't imagine paying a significant amount of money to be crammed into a smelly theater, and then be disappointed by the "entertainment" with no recourse to get my money back.

I much prefer spending an evening dancing with my wife or spending time with friends.

Agreed! While I haven't seen any of the more recent versions, I have very fond childhood memories of the Saturday afternoon matinee Godzilla experience that I will cherish forever.

The original movies have that "campy" quality that is entertaining beyond the story line.

Marvelous experience and enduring memories:

My dad saw the newest Godzilla film, loved it, and encouraged me to watch it.

As for the guy who mentioned the ruining of Transformers, Michael Bay isn't finished ruining the 1980s. He is making a new Ninja Turtles film as well. I hope he never gets a chance to butcher the Tundercats or He-Man and The Masters of The Universe.
