Before I learned of this board, I used a fram cartridge filter in my BMW.. then I learned better.

I promptly went to pep boys and got me a pureolator.

I then cut the cartridge open.. and wasn't suprised... the filter medium was as thick and as durable as construction paper. Very easy to rip out... it seems like it wasn't glued in very well either....

All I have to say is.. my bimmer is happy now.

I hadn't thought the CH 9018 looked too bad. I certainly am not going to pay the exorbitant $12 for one at Walley's to find out any more. I will trust another BITOGer. My Cavalier is mostly making due now with L 15435's I picked up for $3. The most I have paid for a cartridge was $8 at my stealer.

I still don't understand why you pay about twice as much for a filter with plastic end caps and center tube, no shell, no base plate, no ABDV, and no bypass.
 
They don't want all the laid off ChampLab employees protesting in front of Walmart when all their jobs are sent to Mexico.
