Pictures on a HOA Facebook page of foul language graffiti and images of sexual body parts on various places in the community

Calling someone an A--hole in anonymity for calling the cops on you instead of being a nicer neighbor and simply asking you about the situation(no relation to the above).

Neither points to the actual person(s) responsible...man I should have lived in the country.

Please add more vagueness to this question and it will be that much easier to answer.

In the interim, I would say that the worse thing would be changing synthetic oil at 3000 miles, to a non-manufacturer approved weight.

I gather that you're having problems with your neighbors and your HOA.
You're right, you should have moved to the country.
We bought a house in the 'eighties in what was then the country.
Unfortunately, developers figured out that with good and easy road access to both Cincinnati and Dayton, all those cornfields and the dairy farm would be ideal for residential development.
The result is that we now live in a neo suburbia, complete with a city government in place of the township we once had.

I'm not in the market, now, and don't plan to be in the foreseeable future, but,no matter how much i may love a house I'm looking at, if i even hear the words "home owners association" I'll just Turn, and walk away...

Assuming you would have worked with the person who called the cops, I would say that was worse.

A friend lives in a HOA community, I have heard of not changing oil in the driveway but he got a nasty letter for WAXING HIS CAR in the driveway. Unbelieveable.

I'd say that neither is a pleasurable option or a desired outcome.
HOA's are just obnoxious IMO.
I know someone whose Aunt lives in a development with an HOA. She got a visit because her blind was crooked.

In some areas HOAs are good for maintaining property values. The problem is that you get mission drift and they start legislating pet peeves rather than common sense.

I was being vague on purpose....mostly I don't need anything biting me in the butt. It was about landscaping, we are tearing our entire yard apart so yes it might look bad now but give me a break. I work 10-12 hour days and I might like to spend one day a weekend with my family instead of the yard project.

The problem is with the recession our neighborhood has foreclosed homes everywhere. The newest house is a guy who moved on to better pastures after living here for 10 years. I can't say I blame him. His is the one house that isn't a foreclosure but a short sale. So I've come accept not matter what I do my property value is going down.

Sometimes I wonder if my long commute is worth it, so as to live with few neighbors, small school district, etc. Other times, not so much.

Sorry to hear.

I'd say it's TOTALLY worth it!! That's the environment I prefer to live in.

Kinda wish I really could have afforded that 10 acre farm I saw 3-4 years back.

Totally agree with you both!!!
