Smoking Mower - Bleeding Oil

Had the mower out today and it started smoking awful after 10 mins. My daughter was mowing actually and then it quit with a ton of smoke. I noticed a bit of oil dripping out the muffler? type thing on the side. I left it for 2 hrs. just went and started it up again -smoked a bit then stopped, worked fine.

Any ideas? I was thinking maybe she was kind of tilting it up (wheely like) to turn it around each time, maybe the oil was...I don't know?

Mine will smoke if its tipped forward, oil out the muffler also.As long as it stops you'll be ok.,,

Make sure its not overfilled also.

Make sure it is not overfilled with oil, and also make sure the crankcase vent is not plugged up. What oil are you using in the engine?

Air filter...if it's real old/dirty, it'll suck air+oil from the crankcase.

Float valve stuck in the carb letting gas into the oil. Check for gas in the oil.

Take off the crankcase breather and let it soak in gas for a while. If it's not being ventilated properly, it could be blowing oil into the cylinder.

My old 6.5 B&S does this too. Where is the 'crankcase breather'?

Same thing this morning...worked about 5 mins...smoked like the Malboro Man then quit.

I took the air filter off- pretty dirty. So I soaked in gas...about how long and how long to dry?

Update: (I know, like you care..)

I soaked the filter in a plastic container. I came back 3 hrs later and it all was soaked up and or disintegrated the plastic. I put it back on and seems to be working fine.
