I just bought a new S&W 1911 and pick it up next week. It's a model no. 408284. Anybody have one or know somebody that does? Online reviews seem pretty positive. Any thoughts? I just hope my series 70 Colt Gold Cup doesn't get mad!

One of my buddy's who has over a Dozen 1911's loves his S&W the most of all his stock guns. He knows it is blastphomy, but he feels that it is the best production 1911 style pistol he has that is totally stock.
I prefer plastic things with higher capacity, but that is just me.

Just be aware that these are not true 1911s as they use exterior extractors (proprietary). This is one reason I won't buy them but if it works for you, go for it.

Well, the idiots in Sacramento are too busy trying to make a budget happen. Closing a 46 billion shortfall has all their attention. It's only 7+ months late. As long as they focus on this, gun control measures will take a back seat for now. But the crazies will be back in full force.
My Glocks will still be my primary self defence pistols. The Smith will be a new toy to shoot informal matches with my buddies. I just hope the Smith is close to the Gold Cup in the accuracy department. It will probably be a better pistol than I am a marksman for the time being. With this new 1911, I will be practicing a lot more. Thats always a good thing.
